Hermione had just finished all of her homework. Homework was really not a big deal to her, as it was for Harry and Ron. She liked learning new things and studying, and it came easy to her. Whenever she finished her homework, and she had nothing to do, she always headed to her favorite place: the library.
Hermione carefully held the book that she was returning in her hands, so that nothing would happen to it. As she entered the library, she carefully slipped the book into the book slot, and she flinched when she heard it crash into the other books. She sighed as she turned around and looked at the library. She liked the library because it was quiet and, usually, no one would bother her. She sat down at one of the more secluded tables and began to read her favorite book: Hogwarts, A History.

Albus strolled down by one of the book cases looking for an interesting read, the only problem was that he had read most of the books here. One caught his gaze though, a book called How to Care For Phoenix's "Ah, Alas" He took the book out and flipped through the pages. The book met his needs and he continued over to where the counter was. "You know you don't have to check out the books, Albus" The librarian said. "Your not worried that I would take the book then?" He gave her a wink and continued to sit at a table and enjoy his new novel.
While looking for a table to sit at he noticed Hermione Granger, the girl who usually hung around with Harry. She was all alone now, though. Albus had never gotten the chance to actually talk to her one on one before. He thought this shot was no less better than any other time. "You wouldn't mind if I sat with you, would you?" He asked politely. He wasn't going to intrude her privacy unless he had permission. While asking he noticed the book she was reading. Good taste in literature, plus a great mind. What a girl, what girl He thought to himself.

Hermione had been coming to a very good part in the book, when she got interupted. She looked up, rather annoyed until she realized that it was the headmaster, Professor Dumbledore, that was talking to her. She gasped when she realized who it was. "Oh, not at all, Professor. Please go ahead and sit down!" She was so surprised that she was talking to her. He had never really spoken to her, unless Harry was around.

"Thank you," He said peering over his Half-Moon spectacles. "Hogwarts: A History, Great book. I couldn't count the times I've read it," He told the young lady. He brushed off the dust of his book and opened it up to the first page. "Phoenixes, They heal you with there tears, and are reborn when they die of old age. You would think they would be easy to take care of. Nope, they peck at your ears," He said with a smile. Albus, enjoyed the simpler things in life.
He pulled out a box of Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, from his robes and picked out a bean. After popping it into his mouth and examining the taste of it, he finally made his judgment. "Mmm, Kiwi," He said, still with the loving smile on his face. "Would you like one?" He said offering the box to her. He was wearing light purple robes today, with a long pointed hat. There were pictures of quidditch players stitched all over his robes. An odd attire at best.

Hermione set her book down and listened to Professor Dumbledore talk. There was something about the way he spoke that made you want to listen to him. She smiled when he complimented her book. "Oh, yes! It's my favorite book to read." Hermione, honestly, already knew that about Phoenixes, but she wasn't about to tell that to the headmaster.
Hermione looked at the box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans. She had remembered Harry and Ron eating them and getting nasty flavors. She didn't really want to risk getting one of the bad flavors, but she didn't want to be rude to the headmaster, so she said,"Yes, thank you, Professor." She reached into the box a pulled out a safe looking bean. She popped it into her mouth and sighed, relieved when she tasted cherry.

Dumbledore continued into his book. His eyes shifting back and forth at an alarming pace. "So how are your friends, Harry and Ron?" He asked, politley. His interest in them was quite high to be honest. He wasn't sure if she would want to talk about them though, He was sure that's all she ever heard, How's Harry? and, Is that Potter boy doing ok?But he thought he would strike up a conversation, and he knew she didn't like quidditch, or exotic candy (Because he noticed her search for a cherry), all though he was very impressed by the way she composed herself. She was bright, pretty, and above all chose the right friends.

Hermione swallowed the Bertie Bott bean that she had just eaten. She really didn't understand how Harry and Ron could eat those. She preferred the more normal candies. Her favorites were the more expensive candies from Germany and France. She smiled when Professor Dumbledore asked about Harry and Ron. "Oh, they're doing quite well. We all went to the Quidditch World Cup this summer and that was fun..."she hesitated,"for the most part." The fun part for her was just being around her friends. She didn't really understand Quidditch that well. The not fun part was when the Dark Mark appeared in the sky, that was rather scary.

His interest turned from the book when she spoke of the World Quidditch Cup. "Ahh yes, I heard of the tradgedy that happened. I am so very sorry that it happen during such a great time. I heard the Irish won on a very rare move by the Bulgarian seeker Viktor Krum." He had now closed the book and rested it on the table. The incedent at the World Cup, with the Dark Mark was of more importance. He stroked his beard, and thought for a moment. "It had been a while since the Dark Mark was scattered into the sky, and on such a popular night. It worries me to say the least," He said.

Hermione was glad that they had come to the topic of the Dark Mark because it had been really bothering her since it happened. She knew that the Dark Mark was a symbol of Voldemort. She knew that each Death Eater had the Dark Mark burned into their skin as a Protean charm and whenever Voldemort had need of them he pu this wand to one of the Marks and it burned every Death Eater's Mark. She wanted to know Professor Dumbledore's thought on the subject,"Professor, what do you think is going to happen?"

He took off his glasses and sighed. "Well, you can never know. It could just be a group of pranksters, but with the Chamber of Secrets incident, and the Philosopher's Stone, I am quite worried. But all the same, we cannot act on false truths." He ended with sort of a frown. Hermione, he was sure, knew all about both, the Chamber of Secrets, and the Philosopher's Stone, saying she was a big part of preventing, the tragedies that could have happened. He picked out another Bean out of the box, that now lay open in the middle of the table and ate it. He slowly examined the taste.

Hermione nodded, thinking. That was along the lines of what she had been expecting him to say. She hoped that he was right, but what if he wasn't? Even Professor Dumbledore can be wrong sometimes. She, honestly, didn't really think that a group of pranksters set off the Dark Mark. She remembered the Philisopher's Stone and the Chamber of Secrets; they were both Voldemort trying to become a person again. "But, Professor, what is to be done if it isn't a fasle truth?"

He mad a disgusted face, and after taking a deep swallow, he coughed. "Vomit..." He gave a weak smile. "You think like the Aurors of old, Miss Granger. Have you ever thought of taking up such an occupation?" He asked calmly. Albus always knew when things were about to get to complicated. He didn't want to delve deeper into the terrible arts of Voldemort, with a lady of such young age. Such worries, or thoughts could ruin a great mind. Dumbledore had once pursued something best not pursued, and it had cost him.

Hermione put a disgusted face on when she heard the flavor of Professor Dumbledore's bean that he had just eaten. That was the reason why she didn't like certain candies that Harry and Ron did like. She couldn't see how vomit was considered a tasty flavor to eat.
Hermione smiled when Professor Dumbledore said that she would make a good Auror. She was so shocked that he had complimented her in such a way. "Well, I don't know, Professor. I haven't ever really thought about doing anything like that."

He continued eating his candies, while she spoke. "Never thought? I don't suppose you are going take up a muggle job? Quite boring if I do say so myself," He winked, "I always loved the Broomstick riding, spell-casting, action of an Auror. The Auror Department, could use someone with some intelligence such as yours." He said with a soft tone. "Ah yes, I have seen your grades Ms. Granger, They are quite impressive." To be honest Albus hadn't seen grades like that since well, he was reading Hogwarts: A History, in the library.

Hermione smiled, she had never really thought about what she wanted to do. But now that it was mentioned, she didn't want to have a muggle job. She felt that she could do better in a Wizarding job. Hermione blushed, hearing the Headmaster compliment her on her grades. "Well, thank you, Professor Dumbledore! But, I'm sure that my grades aren't that good. I couldn't probably do better." She honestly felt that way, even though people were constantly arguing with her about it.
